Names Again

We have never been so indecisive about names! Tell me what you think about these..
Here are the ones still managing to hang in there on the main list:

Emma
Scarlett
Lola
Odessa
Sadie

Here are some recent add-ons:

Bonnie
Goldie
Laela
Roxanne
Ava
Belle
Sullivan
Emerald (would never work with Ruby, but it's a cute name)
Helena (Hel-en-a)
Daisy
Virginia

I know our taste in names is a little funky, but there are also my own picky things about words: I don't like names that start with a soft vowel, like Emma. However, I think the name Emma is pretty, but way too common. I also don't like words or names that end in "tt" (or "l"). People never pronounce them, they just end the vowel a little stronger, get what I'm saying? Like instead of Scarlett, it's "Scarleh". Odessa is my Great Grandma's name and I still love the name so much.. but we have no idea! Maybe I should just have our girl and then it'll come to me.

well, my favorites are probably Sullivan or Laela. but i also think that Goldie is absolutely hysterical and genius. so i might vote goldie. but all in all i think sullivan would be sosososo cute. xoxo!

i love ava - i think it fits with ruby and grace - i agree with sarah, hi sarah, and think sullivan is a great name - but, even though i am a call-them-by-their-full-name kinda gal, i still think of what the shortened or nickname form might be, and with sullivan all i can think of is sully, from monsters inc. sorry.

one name i wish i'd used is bridie, or brydie, or bridey, (i really don't know the correct spelling), but i think you can figure out how to pronounce it from all those versions - i think it is an irish form of bridget?! anyway just another name to add to the pot. goodluck.

cute names. we had the same problem when we were expecting our daughter. what it came down to was actually seeing her in the hospital and her name just came to us. a name we hadn't even thought about and now it totally fits her so well. good luck.

I"m with you on Emma, pretty but really common now. Roxanne makes me think of that 80's song....could you deal with people singing to her all the time? Maybe I'm just old and know too many 80's songs and other people wouldn't do that. Sadie is cute, Grace, Ruby and Sadie go well.

Sadie is my pick. Now you have 2 votes for Sadie!

ooh, what about ivy?! family in our ward named their last one that - she is sooo cute - it's all about name association for me. just a suggestion.

I just read your comments on my blog about the Turner family. I do not know them but it has been 9 years since I lived in Murrieta so going back is going to be new for me. We will be in the Cal Oaks ward which is the ward I grew up in. We lucked out and ended up renting my childhood bishops house. I will have to let you know if I meet the Turner family.

I VOTE LOLA!!! So cute.

trust me, your plan of having her and then it comes to you is bunk. you'll be sitting on the hospital bed, discharge papers in hand, trying to pick a name while the nurses give you questioning looks. save yourself and decide on scarlett right now.

Oh definitely Roxanne - little Roxie- so cute -- funny about Odessa, my great great grandma was Orissa and I always wanted to use the name some how because O names are so unusual.

oh and don't wait until the last minute or you will be stuck - at least have it narrowed to 2 if you are going to wait until you see her!!

Again, I say Scarlett. For obvious reasons of course. I really like Ava too. Grace, Ruby and Scarlett totally fit together though.

How are things in Florida? Hope your pregnancy is going good. Craig and I are having a hard time picking this last girl name too! My favorites for you are Ava and Sadie. We liked both of those names.

My fav is Ava. I am trying to talk Jody into naming our next girl (cross your fingers we have another girl) Ava. Haven't convinced him yet! I just LOVE it. But I also recently heard Reese which I think is cute. Love Sadie, Laela, Lola. Goldie makes me think of Goldie Hawn. Not a bad thing though. What are your favorites of the list? That's what really matters of course. Thanks for letting us be apart of this! Not that our opinions will count but it drives me nuts when people won't tell you the names they pick for their kids.

Oh and I also really like Sullivan.

Lola and June. But I bet it will just hit you all of the sudden. Just don't name her Gus.. just kidding. Love you!

Sadie, Lola, Scarlett, and Ava were officially on our list too... I think I already told you about that--- Am I reading your blog and commenting about myself? ... I think that should be against the rules, sorry. But those are, indeed, my favorite. GOOD names.

This is funny! You continue to crack me up, dude. Just name her "dude"...j/k.

Now I'm liking Daisy...but like Tarzan says, "It's your baby". Shannon is having a hard time picking names too. Maybe I should post a vote on my blog for her...

Mmmmm, I vote Ava! There is a couple in my ward who just had a baby and named her Ava and she is the most beautiful baby! I know you will choose a good name your other girls have perfect names!

Sarah, after reading your blog it's no wonder you were on my mind a few weeks ago before I really knew you!!!! :) I do have to comment on your names........cute choices! I have friends with daughters with all of your top five names, and some of your other names. The ones that stand out and not so common are, Scarlett, my friend molly (mexican, w/ dark hair & light skin)that I grew up with in NM has a beautiful daughter with that name!!! I love it, but I also love Laela. My friend Jennifer that died last year, has a 2 yr old named Laela, beautiful and not as common either!!! I had never heard the name Odessa until I met an awesome lady in our AZ ward with that name. I love classic names, and I'm sure whatever name you and Jake decide on will be the right fit for daughter #3. Whatever it is it has to be classic like Ruby, Grace & Sarah! Since I'm just a little older (haha), I wonder what my grandkids names will be. I can't believe our oldest of 5 kids just had a son. Anyway, if I have any say with my kids, I'd like my grandmothers name to be use (Viola). I also like Lilly I'm all for using uncommon names! Even if you have to correct people/schools a lot like I've had to. I don't like sullivan for a girl though. Just because I know boys with that name. The name will come.......for now, sit back and relax and watch your belly grow and call me or my daughters to watch the girls for awhile. We'd love it!! Drop them off anytime, ok! You deserve it ya know! xoxo
