Uhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmm...

It was nice knowing everyone. The black line on the map is the path of the hurricane (still just a tropical storm). The black line goes directly through Lakeland... and that's where I live... and I'm sort of nervous, mostly excited. Grace's first day of Kindergarten is tomorrow (which I'm trying not to think about.... ahh!), and then the hurricane is supposed to be here sometime Tuesday. Great timing isn't it? It's not looking like a huge hurricane yet, but today in church they canceled the last block of meetings and had an emergency disaster council. And people are putting shutters on their windows. SHUTTERS. This does not sound good.
We got a few supplies and we brought them home and put them on the counter. I told Grace not to eat the crackers, they were for the hurricane. Her eyes got as big as pepperoni. Sensing her panic, I quickly said, "It shouldn't be too bad, it's going to just be really windy and rainy". She said, "Oh no, it's going to be a BAD hurricane, look at all those supplies we needed!"
I know, it's scary and all, but I'd take this any day over earthquake country where I grew up. At least we know when the hurricane's coming, and I love being warned. This weekend in summation: my 7th anniversary, alligator hunting, Grace's first day of kindergarten, and a hurricane. It's all so exciting!

I would just say- Make sure you have gas in both your cars- and do it today- don't wait until tomorrow afternoon. The lines will be horrible.

You have no worries-I know it is scary- but can be fun too. make sure you have stuff for your kids to do afterward. If your power goes out it will be a while before they get it back on. lol
Welcome to Florida! (I am glad I am missing Hurricaine season this year!)

Scary! See that kinda stuff scares me. Speaking of earthquakes, we had a 4.6 last night. Crazy. I hope that the storms settles before it gets to you. Good luck!

Will they really start school tomorrow?! It all seems to exciting - to be huddled inside together watching the rain outside. But, I can't imagine it either...the pictures I've seen on tv from other hurricanes? Scary.

You could join us in Adelaide...no hurricanes, no earthquakes and definately no alligators.

sometimes i get a little jealous of the excitement others seem to have going on about them in their neck of the woods - the interesting people, and places, and things that fill their days - and here i am in little old not-so-facinating gilbert, az.

and then there are the times, like now, when i think WOOHOOOO! bring on the boredom.

wow - first grade and hurricanes - there's the title of your first book. for your sakes i hope this hurricane is a little bit of a let down and doesn't end up being to scary. we love you all, will keep you in our prayers and look forward to reading all about it in a day or two...when your poers back on!

oh, have the boys done their alligator hunt?

So is Grace still going to school on Tuesday? That's the first thing I thought about when you said you were moving to Florida, the huricannes. Please be safe and move back west soon!

I'm SO with you. I always wondered if there was something wrong with me, semi-hoping for some huge crazy mahem, of course with no one getting hurt, to liven things up a little. I'll be checking in Tuesday.

And Jake-- assuming he got home safe?

I tagged you.

I hope Grace had a good first day of school. I'm glad we don't have school tomorrow and Wed., but it's really hard on her Kindergartners. I also don't want to have to make up the days during Thanksgiving week.

I don't think Fay will be that bad. We've had worse come through. Of course this will be the first in our house and not in an apartment.

I hope everything is ok. Hurricanes facinate me. Sounds weird, but it's my favorite weather season. But, I'm in Arkansas, you see...

Brian & I were in FL/AL when Wilma hit the tip. I was in awe. How did your girls react?
