Nascar and Grandma Dotty.

Jake took the girls to Nascar 2011 in Las Vegas this last weekend. About halfway through they firmly requested to leave. Turns out a three or four hour race is too boring for them.

My Grandma Dotty took a turn for the worse and passed away yesterday. She was my mom's Mom. She was spunky and gave me millions of big tight hugs. She and my mom always called me, "Sarah-Girl". She cried at the drop of a hat, and my mom just slightly less so. I love them so much for that.

I can't believe she's not here anymore.

She was a barrel of fun and a lover of music and a hundred other things.

Ugh-- my mind is such mush... I'm going home this weekend. California home. It's been way too long... Hope Jake and the kids are alive when I get back...

You made me love Grandma Dotty just in your brief little chat about her.

enjoy your family time. that's always such the "sweet" part of the "bittersweet".

i'm so sorry, sarah. i've sat here for the past few minutes trying to think of just the right thing to say, but everything just sounds trite and cliche as it bounces around in my head. i'm just so sorry. this particular part of life is always so hard, no matter the age. you'll enjoy your family though, and you'll find comfort in each other that's a given. and your mum will so appreciate all you have to offer her. i love you...

I will always remember Sister Fletcher. She sat in the same pew--the very first pew--for as long as I can remember. I loved her vests and flowered shirts. And, her testimony. Dotty was the FIRST person to get up each fast Sunday--no one else even tried. I think she even ran to get there. She would burst with love and energy and tell how much she loved life and Christ. I vividly remember one testimony when she described being in an earthquake. She was jumping up and down with the shock waves and praying. I remember a lot of things about your grandmother, but what stands out is her laughter--it would ring through the church--and her testimony. She was a great woman.

I heard about your Grandma Dotty's passing. So sorry Sarah. I hope the service was full of music. She was my piano teacher for a while. So patient and so fun.

On the brighter side you get to go home! Go eat some crepes at Renatta's Creperie near the Arcata Plaza. You'll love them!

Sarah, my heart aches as I think of your loss. I too know the pain of losing an amazing grandmother and my prayers are with you. I have no doubt that you will always have her with you and that your little ones will know her through those memories.

I am so sad to hear Grandma Dotty passed away. She was such a great lady. I loved her hair. I loved her happy personality and how she was always the first one to the pulpit on Fast Sundays to bear her testimony. I remember one time a lady running up to beat her to the pulpit and then once she go there she felt so bad she let your grandma bear her testimony first anyway. She will always be remembered.
