Evolution of a smile.

If you have never had a baby, then you may not know: it's hard to get a photo of her smiles. She only holds them for a few seconds. They're spontaneous. She smiles when she looks right at your face, not at the camera. So you may have to focus your lens, keep your camera locked against your right shoulder, crane your neck out so she can see your face, then click and coo and squeal until she smiles. Then you may have to hold your finger over the shutter button and click away, hoping she's still in focus, since you aren't looking through the viewfinder. You may have to do all this while your toddler swings on your pantleg and tugs at your elbow...

And you may have to try five different times throughout the day.

But it is so totally worth it.

oh worth it, it is. Do you remember when you only had Grace & you had all day to try & capture that perfect picture without a toddler hanging off your pantleg. That line just made me think about how much more serene my home seemed to be when Olivia was a babe, but I wouldnt trade what I have now for anything (on most days) :)

She is so beautiful. That hair, her lips, her eyes, that face... she is perfect. I think she looks all her own compared to the other girls. Don't get me wrong the girls are all beautiful. Grace seems to look like you, Ruby looks more like Jake, Lillie looks like Grace and Ruby, but Matilda just looks like Matilda, to me at least.

So cute. And so beautiful. And, regretfully, she seems to be getting older before my very eyes. Shoot. I need to see you people.

She is getting so old. In the pictures where she has nothing behind her head, she could be 20 years old. You can see the wise spirit within her waiting to speak!
Can't wait to see her AND you tonight.

Every time I oogle over your sweet darlings I feel a determination come over me to go buy a really BIG camera. I've never been quick enough to capture those precious moments. You're one rockin' mamma. And Matilda has fabulous hair!
