Nana is the best Nana.

We had a little family birthday party over the weekend for Grace and Ruby. But that's not what this is about. This is to give fair and public notice to the rest of the world that those arms that surround each of the girls belong to a woman who protects, worries over and sacrifices greatly for her grandkids.

We were at an indoor play place. We found ourselves chatting as usual while the kids played on the bouncing house. Suddenly, Grace jumped too high up and over the air-filled wall and as we glanced up, she dangled head first five feet off the ground losing her grip by the second. I didn't move fast enough, Jake was holding Ruby and couldn't move fast enough. I dove toward the spot where I thought she would land and was too late. But I will tell you something. That wonderful Nana of hers was three feet in front of me, already scooping Grace up in her arms. She is about twenty years old than I, and she had moved faster, been stronger, and skinned both her knees in the process of being there to pick up Grace when she fell (flat on her back). I'm telling you, she's amazing. And ya can't have her.

I know a little of that woman your girls call Nana. And, yes, she is amazing. You truly are lucky to be surrounded by all of that love and support. In my mind Donna has always been "the baby, toddler, preschooler whisperer." It is an amazing thing to watch her with a colicky baby or a non-stop preschooler. Enjoy every moment.

That's okay because we have amazing examples in all of her beautiful sisters back here because the man who holds her first held and learnt of her beauty through the love of his sisters. And we get to be held by them.

I couldn't agree more. I watched as that Nana comforted her mother over the weekend. I have been touched by the love and strength she has carried over the last few days . She is the glue holding everyone together right now. Hurry up and get here so that you can stick in it with us. If you need a place to stay we have plenty of room.
